Scholarships
The West Newbury Garden Club has provided over $100,000 in scholarships to students residing in West Newbury, Groveland or Merrimac. The Club is delighted to continue with this tradition.

Annual Plant Sale
Our major fundraiser for the year, the Garden Club plant sale provides gardeners from West Newbury and beyond the opportunity to purchase plant inventory from local garden at reasonable prices. The sale offers an extensive variety of native plants and shrubs as well as a broad selection of sun and shade perennials. Proceeds from the sale fund the Garden Club’s scholarships.
Memorial Day Parade
The Club participates in the annual Memorial Day parade decorating a cheerful, garden themed float. Members march proudly sharing warm greetings along the parade route.
Anna Jacques Holiday Wreaths
Club members decorate beautiful balsam wreaths for our local community hospital, bringing joy to staff, visitors and patients during the holiday season.

Holiday Decorations
The December meeting brings members together to create beautiful holiday wreaths that hang on the public buildings of West Newbury. Members arrange cheerful tabletop displays for West Newbury community housing residents.
Museum of Old Newbury Holiday Trimming
In early December the Club participates in trimming the Museum of Old Newbury in Newburyport, MA for their Annual Holiday Open House. Participating clubs are assigned various rooms, hallways and doors in this building.
Town Gardens
Elwell Square & Church Street
A pocket garden and a container garden grace the center of town and brighten up Main Street. Elwell Square features perennials while the Church Street seasonal container is filled with ever blooming annuals.
Ferry Lane Park
Ferry Lane Park is the northern gateway to West Newbury, appearing immediately after you cross the Rocks Village Bridge over the Merrimack. This greenspace beside the river is the site of the Club's award-winning Thurlow Peony Garden.
Garden Street
The little traffic island on Garden Street lives up to its name with colorful plants each spring, summer and fall. Hardy perennials bloom among annuals during the growing seasons.
G.A.R. Memorial Library
A beautiful perennial shade garden interspersed with various annuals delights library patrons as they stroll along the front walkway to the building’s entrance.
Hills House
The historic home of William Hills is now the headquarters of the West Newbury Historical Society. The herb garden is based on a design from the Plimoth Plantation, and contain herbs grown during the 18th century for their pharmaceutical, aromatic, and therapeutic qualities.

Town Hall
The summer of 2024 saw members of the WNGC establishing a pollinator garden with native perennials and shrubs to attract birds, bees, and butterflies.
Training Field
Site of the militia's training field dating back to the early days of West Newbury, plantings enhance and honor the war memorials and horse trough. The Training Field serves as the venue for the Club’s famous annual Plant Sale held in late spring.
1910 Building
The entrance to our town offices often can be found decorated with a container garden. Annual containers brighten the front sign near the road while various perennials fill the garden space in front of the large yews.
