Scholarships
Over the years, the West Newbury Garden Club has provided over $100,000 in scholarships to students residing in West Newbury, Groveland or Merrimac. Funded by our Annual Plant Sale, the Club is delighted to continue with this tradition.
The West Newbury Garden Club is pleased to announce it will be offering two (2) $4,000 scholarships in 2025.

Eligibility Requirements
- Reside in the Pentucket Regional School District (West Newbury, Groveland and Merrimac). The student may be a senior or a high school graduate currently in college. Once an applicant has received a Garden Club scholarship, that applicant is ineligible for consideration in future years. Prior years' applicants, who did not receive a scholarship, may reapply.
- Attend or have attended Pentucket, Whittier Regional, or Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical High or be a resident of the district and attend or have attended a private high school.
- Plan to major in Environmental Studies, Biology, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Design, Botany, Horticulture, Marine Biology, or any major that pertains to the environment.
- Demonstrate interest in the environment and the community through extra-curricular activities or employment.
Application Process
- Download and complete the entire West Newbury Garden Club Scholarship Application, including the essay describing why you are interested in a career related to the environment and how that interest has developed.
- Send a high school or college transcript and two letters of recommendation from academic teachers, one a science teacher.

The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. offers eleven scholarships for undergraduate students (including high school seniors who will be freshmen in the Fall), and graduate students who will be attending accredited colleges and universities.
These applications are due April 1, 2025. The scholarships are for students studying environmentally-related subjects.
