Events


The Garden Club meets the first Thursday of each month from September through June, except in January.  Our meetings are held at 6:45 p.m. at the 1910 Building Annex at 381 Main Street, West Newbury, MA. Exceptions to the date and time are noted below.  Refreshments are served and guests are always welcome. There is a $5 guest fee when we have a speaker.

Our 2022-23 meetings will be held in person. Masks are optional.


For members and guests unable to attend in person, meetings with a speaker will be available on zoom. If interested in attending via zoom, please contact Heather Conner at hconner1@gmail.com at least three (3) days before the meeting with your name and email. Heather will send interested individuals the zoom link the day before the meeting.

An Apple a Day

​Nancy Riggs will share her love of apples - apple trees’ lovely blossoms, its famous fruit and the history of apple production and industry. This presentation includes an “apple tasting” with five in-season varieties of apples from the orchard.

How to Bring a Japanese Inspired Garden Flair to your Home Garden

Christie Dustman, owner of Christie Dustman & Company, will share her knowledge of how elements of Japanese gardens can translate into our NE gardens.  Christie will describe how the use of line, asymmetrical balance, intentional focal points, stone, and plants can influence our local gardens and create the evocative mood of a Japanese garden.

Holiday Town Decorating for the Town

Join us as we decorate wreaths for our various town sites.  We will be decorating purchased wreaths, making swags and creating arrangements for Community Housing residents.

Optimizing Nutrients in your Vegetable Garden
 
WNGC member, Alison Reyes, is passionate about growing and promoting the consumption of plant-based foods to achieve and maintain overall health.  Alison will discuss the health of our soil and plants, and how to optimize nutrients in our vegetable gardens.

Gardening in a Changing Climate​

The climate is changing. How are we going to keep up, stay in-the-know and be adaptable?  How can we, as gardeners and stewards of our beautiful New England advocate and protect our ecosystems while still finding beauty, peace and joy in our plant-based passions? Plant Sale

​Save the date for our major fundraiser for the year. After a long winter, it’s time to celebrate Spring’s arrival by making your garden sparkle with over 1,000 sun, shade, and native plants available for sale.  The majority of the Plant Sale proceeds support our scholarships.​
